— African Proverb
When you google the word Diaspora it comes up with a simple sentence; “People who have left their home country, usually involuntarily to foreign countries around the world.” Although this a good description of the word I believe this has a deeper meaning. Many Groups have dealt with Diaspora like the Irish, Chinese, Jews, Indians, and Africans throughout history. I have my own opinion on the meaning and the effect and value it has on African Diaspora?
I believe there were 3 incidents of African Diaspora; The 1st time is the Great Movement within and outside of African that happen around 100,000 years ago. Although it may not seem it, but it was a phase and start of the process of the diaspora. Fast forward about 95,000 years and the 2nd time the African Diaspora appeared with the Bantu speaking people moving to the now known countries called Nigeria and Cameroon to other parts of Africa. The final Diaspora is the trading of items, diseases, merchants, and slaves around the continent and the world which began in the 3rd century BC.
